About us
Perhimpunan Informatika Kesehatan Indonesia (PIKIN), internationally known as the Indonesian Association of Health Informatics (IAHI), is a national professional association dedicated to advancing health informatics and supporting the responsible digital transformation of Indonesia’s health system.
Founded in 2005, PIKIN/IAHI brings together a multidisciplinary community of healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, information technology specialists, policymakers, and students. We connect people and institutions working at the intersection of health, information, and technology to strengthen professional practice, advance scientific knowledge, and improve health outcomes.
Our purpose
We aim to advance the science and practice of health informatics so that data, information, and digital technologies contribute to safer care, stronger public health, and a more equitable and accountable health system.
Our focus
Strengthening health informatics competencies through knowledge exchange, seminars, workshops, and collaboration with educational institutions.
Promoting research and sharing evidence to inform the design, implementation, and evaluation of digital health solutions.
Supporting informed dialogue on digital health governance, interoperability, data protection, ethics, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Connecting professionals across disciplines, institutions, and sectors to address Indonesia’s health informatics challenges.
Bringing Indonesian perspectives to regional and global discussions while sharing knowledge and experience with international partners.
Our history
IAHI was founded on 10 November 2005 in Jakarta as an independent, non-profit organisation: all of its income is used to support its work programmes and the development of its activities. It was formed as a forum for communication, collaboration, and scientific development for professionals from medicine, public health, information technology, the social sciences, and other fields with an interest in health informatics.
Over time, IAHI has developed a complete institutional structure, with institutional and individual membership in several categories based on status and contribution to the field. The association takes an active part in national and international forums as its contribution to the global discourse on health informatics. Its Health Informatics Forum has been a key venue for sharing knowledge and experience and for building professional networks at national and international levels.
Looking ahead. As a national organisation, IAHI is open to establishing branches in provinces and regions across Indonesia, to extend the reach and impact of its work in health informatics.
International representation
PIKIN/IAHI represents Indonesia in the international health informatics community through the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and the Asia Pacific Association for Medical Informatics (APAMI).
These connections support scientific exchange, professional networking, and collaboration across countries, linking Indonesia’s health informatics community with regional and global developments.
Organisational governance
PIKIN was formally recognised as a legal entity by the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia in 2025 under Ministerial Decree No. AHU-0001326.AH.01.07.TAHUN 2025.
Together, these bodies provide leadership and oversight for the association’s activities and organisational development.
We welcome professionals, researchers, educators, students, and institutions who share our commitment to advancing health informatics in Indonesia. Together, we can turn data and digital innovation into better health for all.
